Mehrtash Rastegar

Mehrtash Rastegar was born in London on the 25th February, 1982. He was educated in the UK and completed a Masters Degree in International Human Rights Law. Mehrtash utilised his education and understanding of law and human rights by establishing a web-blog 'Another Human Rights Blog', which was nominated for an award at the 2010 International Council Press and Broadcasting, International Media Awards in London. In 2010, Mehrtash joined forces with Homayoun Mobasseri at Neda for a Free Iran (NFAFI) where he wrote a number of articles for NFAFI's publication, as well as draft letters and press-releases in line with the aims and purposes of the said NGO. He represented NFAFI when delivering a presentation at the '2010 Iran Coalition: All Rights Reserved?' UN Side-Event in Geneva in 2010, on the human rights situation in Iran and its legality. Representing NFAFI, Mehrtash was also present at the UN Human Rights Council's Universal Periodic Review of the Human Rights situation in the Islamic Republic of Iran, in Geneva, 2010.

In 2012, Mehrtash established 'Silver Scripts', a shadow-writing service for government officials; corporations and private individuals. He has also written extensively for MENA Press of the Metula News Agency on the human rights situation in Iran, as well as the pertinent activities of the international community. In 2013, Mehrtash followed co-founder Homayoun Mobasseri to the IRT, in which he writes for us on a regular basis.
